Intelligent façades are simply façades with an integral self-adjustment capability which can both respond to the needs of those using the buildings to which they are attached or act as self protection mechanisms for the façade itself against natural energy sources such as sun or wind.
Natural ventilation and sun control elements, while minimising the energy load needed to automatically heat and cool the building also act to maximise the comfort of the users, since such façade elements are connected to the building’s automation system.
The collected data about rain, wind, smoke, flame, and thermal changes in the environment are evaluated in the automation system, and according to the programme’s data output, ventilation and sun control elements are activated.
